Alex Palou’s place among the legends is now secure.
Three-time NTT INDYCAR SERIES champion Palou earned the first oval-race victory of his career, winning the biggest race of them all, the 109th Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge on Sunday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Spaniard Palou earned his fifth win in six series races this season. But more importantly for his legacy as one of the great champions of the sport, he gained immortality and a spot on the Borg-Warner Trophy.
Palou drove his No. 10 DHL Chip Ganassi Racing Honda to victory under caution when Nolan Siegel crashed on the final lap of the 200-lap race. Marcus Ericsson finished second in the No. 28 Allegra Honda of Andretti Global. David Malukas finished third in the No. 4 Clarience Technologies Chevrolet.
